Cuba Nostalgia entrance

Glenn Lindgren: Ok, here's the deal. We hear from many people who really want to experience Cuban culture.

Jorge Castillo: To give them a complete experience, we usually have to tell them about several different art galleries, several music venues, several shops, several restaurants, and so on.

Raúl Musibay: Let me tell you there is a way to get a real taste of Cuban culture all under one roof.

Glenn Lindgren: The catch is that this opportunity only occurs once each year. CubaNostalgia is a three-day celebration of all things Cuban, held one weekend each May at Miami's Fair Expo Center.

Jorge Castillo: It's like taking a trip back to Havana's glory days.

Raúl Musibay: Before the bearded one began his destruction of this great and beautiful country.

Glenn Lindgren: Cuba Nostalgia features live Cuban music, traditional Cuban foods, performers, and vendors. To get a more authentic Cuban experience, you'd have to travel all the way back to Havana!

Raúl Musibay: And we wouldn't want to do that now, would we? A great guy, Leslie Pantin Jr., started the Cuba Nostalgia festival in 1987.

Lots of interesting exhibits and artwork.

Jorge Castillo: Now we know that you have been planning that big Caribbean cruise.

Raúl Musibay: Or maybe you are planning a family vacation in Miami.

Jorge Castillo: Why not book a cruise in May when the rates are cheaper? Find a cruise that departs Miami on Monday. Then arrive in Miami Friday night, get a nice hotel room at the beach, and plan on spending your Saturday or Sunday at CubaNostalgia.

Glenn Lindgren: Or time your cruise so that you have a great weekend in Miami to relax and unwind after all of that stressful cruising.

Jorge Castillo: Vendors from all over Miami and elsewhere are on hand to sell jewelry, photographs, coins, maps, music, books, and other memorabilia. There are plenty of beautiful examples of a bygone era, when everything in Havana had a distinct style and grace.

Glenn Lindgren: CubaNostalgia also showcases the works of many Cuban artists with most artwork available for sale. Many artists can arrange to have your purchase shipped back home to you, so you won't have to take it along on your cruise.

Jorge Castillo: For many people who escaped Castro's Cuba, this may be the last chance to relive some old memories.

Raúl Musibay: They even have reproductions of famous Havana sites.
