Jorge Castillo: We never make a trip to Homestead without stopping at Casita Tejas, a quaint family-owned Mexican restaurant in the heart of "downtown."

Glenn Lindgren: There are a few good Mexican restaurant in the area, but this one is our favorite.

Raúl Musibay: Everything is very good here. I especially like the steak fajitas – the meat is so tender and juicy.

Jorge: we usually start out with an appetizer. Many people go for the super nachos and they are especially good. Even better is the "spinachos" crisp tortilla chips buried in spinach, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, grilled shrimp, and Monterey Jack cheese – almost a meal in itself!

Raúl Musibay: All of the tacos are excellent. They are all made with fresh, handmade corn tortillas. You choose your meat – ground beef, chicken, or beef steak – and eat them Mexican style with cilantro and onions only.

Glenn Lindgren: The best choice is the tacos al pastor, three tacos stuffed with marinated pork cooked on a rotisserie and always topped with a slice or two of pineapple.

Jorge Castillo: Casita Tejas serves some great tamales. For dinner you can order three steamed shredded pork tamales, served with a tomato-based sauce and plenty of melted cheese.

Super Nachos – chips topped with refried beans, protein (your choice of ground beef, shredded beef or chicken) melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapeno, and sour cream.
Chicken tostadas served with refried beans and rice.
Spinach Enchiladas with creamy spinach sauce and monterey jach cheese.
Glenn Lindgren: Casita Tejas does some nice renditions of shrimp, whether it's the grilled "shrimp a la Mexicano" with fresh sliced jalapeno, tomato and onion, the "Camarones Enchiladas" tossed in a special sauce , or the "Camarones al Ajillo" marinated and served in a sauce loaded with fresh garlic.

Raúl Musibay: If you have a Mexican favorite, they are sure to have it here. Order anything from a chimichanga to a chile relleno and you won't be disappointed.
