Robert is Here

Homestead, Florida City, and the Redland District:

Jorge Castillo: For the best selection of tropical and exotic fruits, no trip to the Homestead/Florida City area would be complete without a trip to Robert is Here.

Raúl Musibay: Robert has been here for about 40 years and when we fish in the Everglades National Park we always stop there.

Glenn: For many years, the shakes drew us in. They make some great batidos with tropical fruits such as mango, mamey, papaya, pineapple, banana, and key lime.

Raúl: On a hot day, a line forms at the shake window.

Jorge: They give you a number so that you can shop the store why you wait.

Fresh fruit milkshakes
Step up to the bar for fresh fruit milkshakes: Passion fruit, strawberry, key lime, papaya, orange, coconut, guanabana, and several combinations are available.
Glenn: They have a great assortment of tropical fruits, some rarely seen in the local supermarket – everything from mamey and atemoya, to sapote and tamarindo.

Raúl: Robert has a nice selection of dried fruits.

Jorge: You might wonder why anyone in Miami, surrounded by fresh fruits and vegetables, would want to eat dried fruit?

Glenn: Drying fruit intensifies the flavor and the sweetness. Bad drying technique produces a product that tastes and chews like shoe leather.

Jorge: However, the dried fruit at Robert is here is tender and moist. The dried fruit travels well and makes a great snack!

Raúl: This is also the place to get honey. They have a dozen or more varieties, and best of all, you can sample them all at your leisure.

Glenn: For the kids, there is a zoo of sorts in the back with various animals including several birds and a burro you can pet.

Jorge: Get some shakes for the kids, then wander out back and let the kids look at the animals.
