Glenn Lindgren: Calle Ocho has really become a center for Cuban and Latin artists. Painters, sculptors, muralists, jewelry makers -- if you want something with a Latin theme, you'll find it here. Yes, you can buy plenty of T-shirts here, but why not get a lasting memento of your trip to Miami such as an original painting or a fine art print?

Jorge Castillo: Look for these artists in Little Havana. Many have galleries or show their work in other people's galleries, shops, and restaurants.

Sensual oils on canvas and misty watercolors capture women, dancers, musicians, and small children. Guillot's paintings combine bold beauty with fragility and a real empathy with her subjects that inspires passion and emotion.

Agustín Gaínza is a Cuban-American artist who works in several mediums: painting, drawing, printmaking and ceramics. Gaínza's body of work includes many sublime still life paintings and landscapes.

A beautiful gallery on Calle Ocho that exhibits the work of as many as 50 different artists. The gallery exhibits and sells paintings, sculptures and limited edition prints with emphasis on Cuban and Latin American masters and contemporary artists.

Havana born Luis Molina explores Afro Cuban folklore with paintings that capture the beauty and mysticism of the Cuban country people. Molina's work includes colorful broad stroke highly stylized renditions of both guajiros and saints alike. Many Molina works have mystical meaning to those with a spiritual bent.

The Details

Cuban-born artist Santos E. Mendez depicts the beauty of the natural world in bold, vivid colors and a style that borders on the cubism of Pablo Picasso. Exotic people, exotic settings all filled with the life of nature. Palm trees take on a new reality and the blue waters of the sea have never been more evocative.
