Three Guys From Miami: Miami/Little Havana Travel, Miami Restaurants, Cuban Culture and Food

Glenn Lindgren:  Enriqueta's was once a little known spot in Miami, but with a recent feature in the Miami Herald and a mention in Food and Wine, this little hole-in-the-wall joint has hit the big time.

Jorge Castillo:  We've always known Enriqueta's as a great place to get a Cuban chicken  sandwich – something you don't find everywhere, and never this good.

Glenn Lindgren: Enriqueta's is a funky dive with plastic seats and a lot of Formica.  The excellent chicken sandwich – piled high with shoestring potatoes, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions – goes for about $5.00.

Raúl Musibay:  Add a side of plátanos maduros or yuca frita, café Cubano and a tip, and you have a great lunch for about $8.00.

Glenn Lindgren:  The place is designed to turn out sandwiches to quickly satisfy the hunger of the masses who flock here each day for the great lunches and breakfasts.

Jorge Castillo:  Their breakfast special at around $3.00 is a rare Miami bargain:  you get eggs, ham, Cuban toast, café con leche, and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Glenn Lindgren:  You  won't find a cheaper Cuban place anywhere in Miami – at least not one with  food this good!

Raúl Musibay: Hopefully, all the publicity won't go to their heads!

Many sing the praises of the Cuban sandwich at Enriqueta's Sandwich Shop, a funky dive with plastic seats and a lot of Formica. However at lunchtime it comes down to choice: a tasty, meat-packed Cuban sandwich hot off the plancha or an excellent chicken sandwich piled high with shoestring potatoes, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions.
