This swimming pool rose from the remnants of a rock quarry. Builders used natural coral limestone from the quarry to build the city's fine homes, leaving a large hole in the heart of Coral Gables. The Venetian Pool sits in an idyllic site surrounded by ferns, tropical flowers, vines, bamboo, and towering royal and coconut palms. The huge pool contains more than 820,000 gallons of water that flows from a natural spring so it is always cool, refreshing, and clean. During summer months, workers completely drain and refill the pool each night. The casino does not offer gambling, it is a casino in the original Italian sense, a small country house that includes the ticket office, changing rooms, and a small informal restaurant.
This beautiful 1940's art deco movie house has been transformed into a performing arts center with a 600-seat Mainstage auditorium, 300-seat Balcony Theatre, and 100-seat Black Box Theatre. The Actor's Playhouse has an agreement with the City of Coral Gables to stage Broadway caliber productions at the theater.

Humberto Benítez is one of the most popular artists in Miami painting vibrant works in the great Cuban tradition. Benitez has made great use of color in his exploration and interpretation of life, as seen through someone who developed his artistic eye in the Cuban countryside. Work includes small to large format pastel on paper, acrylic on canvas, oil on canvas, and sculpture.
