The Coral Castle

Glenn Lindgren: Aficionados of classic American oddball attractions won't want to miss this historic gem.

Raúl Musibay: He spent 28 years working on this permanent monument to the girl who dumped him on the day before they were to marry.

Jorge Castillo: The Park is made with coral rock and not much else. Leedskalnin did not use any mortar or cement anywhere in his park.

Raúl Musibay: There have been many theories to explain how one man was able to move these huge slabs of coral.

Jorge Castillo: Leedskalnin told the curious that the only tool he ever used was something called a "perpetual motion holder."

Glenn Lindgren: What really amazes us is that Leedskalnin moved his entire park from nearby Florida City to its present location, about 10 miles away.

Raúl Musibay: And you thought you had too much stuff the last time you moved!

Glenn Lindgren: You can see Leedskalnin's original living quarters in the second story of the castle tower with a small diorama that talks about his work and his diminutive stature.

Jorge Castillo: After Leedskalnin's death in 1951, new owners changed the name of the park to the Coral Castle and started aggressively marketing it as a tourist attraction.
