Jorge Castillo: We rarely make a trip to South Beach without stopping at the Lincoln Road Mall.
Glenn Lindgren: No, it's not your typical mall. This one is a beautiful tree-lined street about 10 blocks long with numerous outdoor cafés, boutiques and art galleries.
Jorge Castillo: It's full of the art deco architecture that has made Miami famous.
Raúl Musibay: This used to be one of the worst areas the city had really let the area get run down.
Glenn Lindgren: But a huge renovation has brought the Lincoln Road Mall back to it's full splendor they called it the "Fifth Avenue of the South" back in the 1950's, and once you get there, you'll see why.
Jorge Castillo: Can't get a table on busy Collins Avenue (South Beach) on a Saturday night? Your chances are a lot better here and they have many great restaurants, more than 50.
Glenn Lindgren: Like to escape the sun for a couple of hours? Check out the 18-screen Regal Cinema, on the west end of Lincoln Road. There is a giant Banana Republic store here as well.
Glenn Lindgren: On Sundays, there is a small farmer's market with fresh vegetables, fruits, and some remarkable fresh made bread.
Jorge Castillo: A good place to pick up some flowers for that significant other.
Glenn Lindgren: The Lincoln Road Mall also features antique shows on weekends, with vendors setting up their wares along the sidewalk.
Raúl Musibay: A lot of old stuff!
Jorge Castillo: The Colony Theater and the New World Symphony also make their homes here.
Raúl Musibay: Our wives love the shopping, of course, but they particularly love the Frieze ice cream shop.
Glenn Lindgren: I wonder why?
Jorge Castillo: Lincoln Road Mall gets really fun after dark when you can see street performers and do some serious people watching.
Raúl Musibay: Don't be surprised to see the occasional celebrity here. It's also a great spot to be if you are one of the few males who enjoy looking at supermodels.
Glenn Lindgren: NOT that any of us fall into that category.
Jorge Castillo: Many models like to hang out here after an all-day South Beach photo shoot.
Glenn Lindgren: We also just like to sit in a café sipping a cool drink and watching the guy who plays the garbage cans.
Raúl Musibay: Very entertaining.
Jorge Castillo: If you can get into the 24-hour parking garage at 17th Street across from Miami Beach City Hall, do it. It's one of the better parking bargains in Miami Beach at just $1 per hour with an $8 maximum.
The mall features several restaurants and numerous shops.
Restaurants include Yuca (Nuevo Cuban), Da Leo Trattoria (Italian), Cafe Papillon (Euro), TiramesU (Italian), and Pacific Time (New World). Shops include Galleria, Luggage Gallery, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, William Sonoma, and Victoria's Secret.
This is an area with many art galleries: Mayfair Fine Art, Carel Gallery, Continuum Gallery, and the The South Florida Art Center, a three-building complex that features the works of more than 80 artists.
Farmer's market every Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
ATMOSPHERE: You can be casual, but be aware that many restaurants are more upscale here.
HOURS: Open seven days a week.
