Three Guys From Miami: Miami/Little Havana Travel, Miami Restaurants, Cuban Culture and Food

Raúl Musibay: Have you ever been invited to a true Cuban party? Let me tell you that it is really something with great music, and lots of dancing. Everybody has a good time.

Glenn Lindgren: If you don't have any Cuban friends, don't despair. There is one place in Miami where you can invite yourself to the party, and in no time you won't be a stranger. You'll be part of the fun.

Jorge Castillo: Hoy Como Ayer started out as a place called Cafe Nostalgia.

Glenn Lindgren: In those days, the crowds tended to be on the older side..

Raúl Musibay: However, with the talent they book there now, they have attracted a much younger crowd – although it's enjoyed by all ages!

Jorge Castillo: When the music starts and the drums start to beat, wow! You have to dance, man!

Glenn Lindgren: This is a music venue that attracts people of all nationalities – even a gringo like me. Don't be afraid to come and enjoy the music. Everyone is made to feel welcome here and you'll soon find yourself keeping time to the distinctive beat.

Jorge Castillo: On Thursday nights they have a big party called a Fuacata. You'll hear some classic Cuban music brought up to date by hip Cuban DJs.

The Details

It started life as "Café Nostalgia," but the recipe is the same: mix live Cuban music with plenty of 1950s nostalgia, add good food and drinks and you have the winning formula that is Hoy Como Ayer. Listen to live music and dance if you dare. On Thursday nights, the club takes on a youthful hip-hop vibe with a DJ riffing on Cuban classics. Willy Chirino meets beatboxing.
